Grace Church Cowley / Blackbird Leys

Grace Church Cowley was planted from St Ebbe’s churches in September 2019, into the ethnically diverse and socio-economically mixed community of Cowley, on the eastern edge of Oxford. In 5 years, the Lord has grown Grace Church Cowley in numbers and diversity, reaching people in the local area with the good news of Jesus.

Blackbird Leys is a ‘housing estate’, or ‘project’, built in the 1950s and 1960s, just outside the ring road around Oxford and immediately adjacent to Cowley.  Blackbird Leys is home to over 13,500 people but sadly has very little gospel witness.

We have employed an Associate Minister from August 2024 to work alongside the Senior Minister but live in Blackbird Leys with the task of helping to grow Grace Church and to explore reaching people in Blackbird Leys. Funds required for an initial three-year term are estimated at £78,000 per annum (salary, NI and accommodation etc.). Grace Church Family and Third-Party donors have already provided nearly 65% of these funds.
